Match Report:

Hamilton Harvest continued their pre-season preparation with a win over Kings Park on Saturday morning. Harvest started in a 5-3-2 formation with Shug in goals, right wing back was David Anderson, the back three were Iain, Hawky & Steph with Andy at left wing back, JB & David McKean sat in the midfield with Des just in front of them and Danny & Ants started up front, Matt, Wullie McKenna, Hammy & Duffy started on the bench, but with rolling subs everyone would get a decent run out.

Harvest started well and took the lead in the 8th minute, Harvest were awarded a free kick about 30 yards out on the left, Ants stepped up and struck the ball over the wall but the ball cannoned off the base of the post and ran across the face of goal and Danny ran in and had the easy task of tapping the ball in to the net from close range to make it 1-0. Harvest were boosted by this early goal and increased their lead in the 11th minute, a great ball from Des on the right evaded the Kings Park defence and fell to Davy McKean at the back post and he lashed the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0. No sooner had the game restarted and Harvest made it 3-0, once again Des picked the ball up in midfield and played a great through ball to Ants who beat the off side trap, rounded the keeper and knocked the ball in to the net. Harvest were in control of the game at this stage and Kings Park were struggling to get out of their own half and with the movement from the Harvest midfield and forwards. Harvest continued to create chances and made it 4-0 in the 28th minute, the ball was played from midfield to the feet of Ants and although the defender pushed Ants wide he fired a low left foot shot across the keeper in to the bottom corner. As the first half drew to a close Harvest made it 5 when JB picked up the ball about 20 yards out and fired a low shot which the keeper managed to get a hand to but could not keep out and the ball nestled in the bottom corner. Kings Park to their credit kept trying but only managed a couple of efforts at the Harvest goal which flew way over the bar, and the Harvest defence was solid resulting in little joy in front of goal for the Kings Park strikers. The remainder of the half was played out and Harvest went in at half time 5-0 up.

The second half started with Kings Park closing Harvest down early and forced Harvest in to their own left hand corner but some neat passing got them our of trouble and the ball was played up the park. Harvest did drop the pace a wee bit in the second half with the guys on the side coming on to get a run out, there was no further scoring in the second half which was a bit disappointing from the Harvest point of view but despite this it was a comfortable second half for Harvest and the Harvest defence was barely troubled. Harvest’s best chance for a goal in the second half fell to JB but his curling shot was tipped by the post by the Kings Park goal keeper. The game was played out and Harvest ran out comfortable 5-0 winners.

Well done today guys a good work out, some great play and every goal was well worked, well done to the goal scorers, Danny, David McKean, JB & Ants with 2, (that’s 8 goals in 3 games for Ants). JB was also awarded the man of the match award for a great performance in which he bossed the midfield. It was a real team effort and every player that took part contributed to what was a good game and great result. Well done once again, have a good week. God Bless.
