Match Report:
Hamilton Harvest took on Carluke on Tuesday night and lined up in a 4-4-2 formation with Shug in goals, right to left in defence was Daryl, Steph, Hawky & Wullie, right to left in midfield was Andy, Alex, Hammy & Davy, with Kyle & Ally up front.
Carluke dominated the early stages of the game and almost took within the first 5 minutes when a corner was swung in and met by the head of the Carluke defender but Andy in the right place at the right time to block the effort on the goal line. Carluke has another chance to take the lead midway through the half when the left winger got in behind the defence and fired a low shot which hit the inside of the near post and came back out. Harvest defended well in the first half and had a few chances of their own the best of those falling to Ally but from the angle his shot went past the far post. Carluke were dangerous going forward but the Harvest defence was strong and both teams went in at half time with the score at 0-0.
In to the second half and it was a more even affair for the early part. Carluke did grab the lead their overall possession when they were awarded a penalty after Steph was adjudged to have tripped the striker as he ran in to the penalty box. Carluke entrusted the penalty to their left back who stepped up and fired the ball low in to the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Harvest kept pressing forward looking for a way back in to the game but found it hard to break down the Carluke defence and it was Carluke who increased their lead in the 70th minute when once again the left winger got in behind the Harvest defence and advanced towards the bye line and fired a high shot in at the near post which deceived Shug and nestled in the Harvest goal to make it 2-0. This then sparked Harvest in to life and they went on the attack and almost found an immediate response when they won a free kick about 30 yards out, Hammy stepped up and fired in a rasping drive which had the keeper beat but cannoned back of the crossbar. Harvest did find a way back in to the game when they pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining a shot from the edge of the box was blocked and when the ball spun up in the air Davy was up to head the ball in to the net to make it 2-1. Despite pressing for an equalizer Carluke defended well and the game ended with the score at 2-1.
Unlucky tonight guys we played well against a decent team, well done to Davy who got another goal to add to his tally and to Alex who was awarded the man of the match award. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week, God Bless.
