Harvest dominated the early stages of the game and almost grabbed the lead early on when a great cross field pass by Alex found John on the left and he advance towards goals and fired a shot in a goal which the keeper done well to deflect round the post. Next it was Ebenezer’s turn to test the Harvest defence when their striker got the better of Steph and from the edge of the area hit a shot which cannoned back of the post and the danger was cleared. Harvest kept pressing forward but couldn’t grab the lead as Ebenezer defended well. Ebenezer had another great opportunity to take the lead when they lost possession on the left hand touch line, the striker then got by Hammy and advanced towards goal but Shug was down quick to block the shot with his legs, neither side could break the other down and the half time score was 0-0.
In to the second half and Ebenezer took the lead, Harvest lost the ball midway inside their own half and after a couple of quick passes the ball was squared to the striker inside the Harvest area and he spun and hooked his shot past the despairing dive of Shug and in to the net to make it 1-0. Harvest equalized just 5 minutes later when Alex picked the ball up in midfield and advanced towards goal beating 3 men on the way and from the edge of the area he fired an unstoppable shot in to the bottom corner. By now the game was very open and even with both teams taking turns to attack and Harvest almost took the lead when a cross was swung in to the box, the Ebenezer keeper came out the claim the ball but Andy nipped in front of him and got a glancing header to the ball but it went narrowly past the far post. Ebenezer then regained the lead in the 75th minute when Harvest were caught on the break the Striker got his shot away which Hammy managed to block with Shug already committed to dive and on the deck the ball broke back to the striker and despite Shug and Hammy scrambling to get to the ball he managed to toe pock the ball in at the near post to restore Ebenezer’s lead. Harvest kept pressing forward but the Ebenezer defence was packed and they could find no way through. Ebenezer had the chance to wrap the game up 5 minutes from the end when the ball fell to their striker on the edge of the box, he flicked the ball over Steph’s head and was faced with a clear site at goal but Shug narrowed the angle and the blocked the effort. With Harvest pushing for an equalizer they left space at the back and in the last minute Ebenezer broke and won themselves a free kick just outside the Harvest area which the striker stepped up and curled round the wall and in to the bottom corner to make it 3-1 and kill off Harvest. That was actually the last kick of the ball as just as Harvest kicked off the referee blew the final whistle and it was Ebenezer who advance to the final.
Unlucky again today guys it’s a shame we never managed to get to the final, we played well and competed well against a decent side but it seemed they managed to get all the wee breaks of the ball today. Well done to Alex who did score a great goal and got the man of the match award. Hope you all have a good week, God Bless.
