Match Report:

Hamilton Harvest took on St Silas on Saturday and left empty handed after suffering a 5-2 defeat. Harvest found themselves 2-0 down within the first 20 minutes after a deflected shot found the bottom corner after just 4 minutes and then as Harvest dwelled on the ball too long it was lost and found a St Silas player in the area and he planted the ball in the corner. Harvest did pull a goal back just before half time when a throw in was flicked on by Davy and Paul drilled a low shot past the keeper. This remained the score at half time and the second half should have saw Harvest come out fighting, however St Silas eagerness to win every ball saw Harvest on the back foot especially as St Silas were quick going forward and always seemed to have a spare man. Harvest soon found themselves 3-1 down when a deep cross found a St Silas player at the back post on his own and he had time to bring the ball down get it out his feet and fire the ball under Shug in to the net. Harvest kept battling away and a defensive mix up between the St Silas goal keeper and defender let Harvest back in to the game when Paul chased the ball as it was headed past the keeper and side footed the ball in to the net to make it 3-2. Any hopes of a come back were dashed just a few minutes later when a St Silas corner flew right to back post where 1 of the 3 waiting St Silas players bulleted the header high in to the net. With only 10 minutes remaining Harvest pushed forward looking for another goal and this left space at the back which St Silas exploited and when they were faced with a 4 on 3 situation the ball was moved from left to right and when the ball found the striker he drilled the ball low and hard in to the far corner of the net to make it 5-2 and finish the game as a contest.

Unfortunately we weren’t good enough today and second to every ball and credit must go to St Silas who looked as if they wanted it more from the start. Let’s forget about this and move on and rectify things next Saturday.
