Match Report:

Hamilton Harvest took on league leaders Victoria Croftfoot on Saturday and were well beaten. After a last minute change of venue which saw the team travel to Drumchapel and then a doubt over the pitch the game eventually got underway and hour after the scheduled kick off time. Harvest lined up in a 4-4-2 formation with Shug in goals, right to left to in defence was Davy, Steph, Hammy & Hawky, right to left in midfield was Yos, Omar, Rab, & James with William & Alex up front.

Harvest competed well in the first half and managed to work the Victoria goal keeper on few occasions but it was Victoria Croftfoot who went in 2-0 up at half time after they got the break on 2 occasions from corners which were delivered in to the Harvest box, the first deflected of Hammy and in to the net and the other broke to the Victoria striker after Harvest failed to clear their line and the striker made no mistake as he fired Victoria 2-0 up.

In the second half as Harvest pushed forward to try and to get back in to the match they left some space at the back which was exploited with a few balls over the defence and the pace of the Victoria strikers and Harvest were punished as they conceded another 5 goals. Harvest did get what was a consolation goal after good work found Daryl in the box and he fired the ball past the Victoria keeper to restore a wee bit of pride.

A 7-1 score line sound like a bit of a battering but this was not the case, the truth of the matter was that Victoria were very good when presented with an opportunity in front of goal. Unlucky guys once they scored the 3^rd & 4^th goals the heads went down a wee bit and I think that’s what ultimately lead the further goals being scored. Credit to Victoria who passed the ball well and who seemed to fine their lethal striker with every ball forward. It’s clear to see why they are top of the league. Let’s forget about this and hope the weather improves during the week so we can get a decent run of games in. Have a blessed week.
