Match Report:

Hamilton Harvest took on Westwood BB on Tuesday night, Harvest lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Shug in goals, right to left in defence was Andy, Steph, Hawky and Yos, sitting in front of the defence was Hammy & Colin, in front of them was midfield three of Rab on the right, Wullie in the middle and Davy wide left and William was the lone striker.

Westwood dominated the early exchanges but despite all their efforts couldn’t find the net. Harvest then made the Westwood keeper work when a snap shot from Davy was turned round the post. Westwood did take the lead their dominance deserved when a corner was flighted to the back post and headed in to the net by the Westwood striker. This was the only goal of the half and the teams went in at half time with the score at 1-0.

Westwood continued to press in the second half and scored a second midway through the half when the winger raced in to the box, the striker nicked the ball of his feet and fired a low shot across the face of the goal which went in off the inside of the post to make it 2-0. Westwood then increased their lead 10 minutes later when the ball was picked up in midfield by the left winger who drove in to the box with the ball and fired it high in to the net. Harvest then came back in to the game and got a goal back when Rab found himself with space at the edge of the Westwood area and fired a looping shot over the keeper in to the top corner. Harvest were buoyed by this goal and started to press for another and again the Westwood keeper had to be alert to deny William with a good save from his header. Westwood made the game safe with 5 minutes to go when Hawky passed the ball back to Shug who came out to clear the ball, however the ball cannoned off the striker’s backside as he shut the ball down and the ball trickled in to the bottom corner to make it 4-1.

Unlucky tonight guys, midweek games are difficult when you don’t have a full team but we were beaten by the better team tonight. Well done to Rab for scoring and to Hammy for picking up the man of the match award. God Bless.
